Embassy honours friends of Sri Lanka in France

Sri Lanka's Ambassador in Paris Karunaratne Hangawatte hosted a reception at the Embassy premises recently for French guests from varied regions and organisations in France. Among them were frequent travellers to Sri Lanka, businessmen, investors, government officials, artistes and contributors to charity and social advancement, all of them united by their desire to lend a helping hand to Sri Lanka.

 Ambassador Hangawatte expressed his gratitude to the French philanthropists for their dedication to Sri Lanka, notably with programs such as adoption of destitute children, building orphanages, rebuilding homes for tsunami victims and offering scholarships for children.

The Ambassador acknowledged their interest in the advancement and practice of cultural awareness about Sri Lanka while thanking them for their close collaboration with government and non-governmental programs such as nutritional funding centres for youth and professional training centres.

Reiterating the significance of the long-standing collaborative ties between France and Sri Lanka over the past decades, the Ambassador disclosed his wish to revive the group 'Friends of Sri Lanka'.

Inviting all his guests to join in this new venture, Ambassador Hangawatte disclosed his intentions of promoting investment, commerce, trade and tourism between the two countries in addition to promoting political and cultural relations.

Having expressed their pleasure and gratitude for the efforts undertaken by the Ambassador to felicitate their participation in various sectors of development in Sri Lanka, the invitees shared their past experiences in Sri Lanka, describing their love for the country, the kindness and friendliness of the people they met and the strong ties they developed at each visit. A comprehensive and detailed video presentation was projected during the evening which displayed the social and economic growth of Sri Lanka over the past five years and projections for the next 10 years.

The guests enjoyed an array of Sri Lankan traditional cuisine.

Expanding his appreciation to the invitees for their involvement in Sri Lanka through investment, commerce, trade and tourism, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Sri Lanka to UNESCO, Professor Hangawatte invited the gathering to patronise the Sri Lankan cultural events projected for 2013 and 2014 at UNESCO.

L'ambassadeur du Sri Lanka à Paris Karunaratne Hangawatte a organisé une réception dans les locaux de l'ambassade récemment pour les clients français de régions variées et des organisations en France. Parmi eux se trouvaient les voyageurs fréquents à Sri Lanka, hommes d'affaires, les investisseurs, les responsables gouvernementaux, les artistes et les contributeurs à la charité et de promotion sociale, tous unis par leur volonté de prêter main-forte au Sri Lanka.

 Ambassadeur Hangawatte a exprimé sa gratitude aux philanthropes français pour leur dévouement au Sri Lanka, notamment avec des programmes tels que l'adoption d'enfants démunis, la construction d'orphelinats, la reconstruction des maisons pour les victimes du tsunami et en offrant des bourses d'études pour les enfants.

L'ambassadeur a reconnu leur intérêt dans l'avancement et la pratique de la sensibilisation culturelle au Sri Lanka tout en les remerciant pour leur étroite collaboration avec les programmes gouvernementaux et non gouvernementaux tels que les centres nutritionnels de financement pour les jeunes et les centres de formation professionnelle.

Réaffirmant l'importance des liens de collaboration de longue date entre la France et le Sri Lanka au cours des dernières décennies, l'ambassadeur divulgué son souhait de faire revivre «Amis de Sri Lanka» du groupe.

Invitant tous ses invités à se joindre à cette nouvelle aventure, l'Ambassadeur Hangawatte révélé ses intentions de promotion de l'investissement, le commerce, le commerce et le tourisme entre les deux pays, en plus de la promotion des relations politiques et culturelles.

Après avoir exprimé leur plaisir et leur gratitude pour les efforts déployés par l'Ambassadeur de féliciter leur participation dans divers secteurs de développement au Sri Lanka, les invités ont partagé leurs expériences passées au Sri Lanka, en décrivant leur amour pour le pays, la gentillesse et l'amabilité des gens ils se sont rencontrés et les liens étroits qu'ils ont développées à chaque visite. Une vidéo de présentation complète et détaillée a été projeté lors de la soirée qui a affiché la croissance sociale et économique du Sri Lanka au cours des cinq dernières années et les projections pour les 10 prochaines années.

Les invités ont pu déguster un éventail de Sri Lankan cuisine traditionnelle.

Remerciant les invités pour leur participation au Sri Lanka par l'investissement, le commerce, le commerce et le tourisme, Ambassadeur et Délégué permanent du Sri Lanka auprès de l'UNESCO, le professeur Hangawatte invité l'assemblée à fréquenter les manifestations culturelles du Sri Lanka prévus pour 2013 et 2014 à l'UNESCO .
